BRT WAHALA (Standing)

On this Monday morning, like every other lagos monday; traffic is high and commercial vehicles are few. Stranded passengers at every bus stop. Typical lagos; see people fighting to enter a bus, ignoring the fare being called by the dirty looking conductor and their well ironed dresses.

Well, back to the Brt. Having to take a standing position in a BRT is no joke at all. I have had to take it severally and i tell you, my feet had stories to tell. No wonder this smallish looking lady nearly pushed me to the ground so she could seat down.

This smallish looking lady actually joined the bus some few Brt bus stops after i had joined and i had neatly positioned myself beside a seated passenger who i sensed (i did not ask him) would alight soon. So i was hoping to seat down soon.

As the bus waddled through the traffic, the seated passenger i was standing close to pressed the stop bell indicating he had arrived his stop. Just then i noticed this lady adjusting and wiggling and making efforts towards the seat. By now most of the passengers were uncomfortable and the traffic was intense.

The passenger stood up and as i made to sit down, this lady squeezed herself into the seat and i almost sat on her (i am tall and huge). She just sat and i was surprised at the lady, i was looking at her with anger and if i could, have slapped her. She just ignored me to the amazement of other passengers who saw what happened.

Its a Monday morning and i am a gentleman. i would not get in any sort of argument or fight. i got a seat luckily behind her and as the bus moved on i touched and said, "excuse me lady, please don't try what you just did again.

You could have easily asked me and i may have allowed you seat.' i could have pushed you as you tried that stunt" and she exploded!! "Oga wetin, i push you to sidon? ehen! I no know say u wan sidon there. Sorry no vex. Me too wan sidon". Other passengers just laughed. Standing in a Brt in traffic is horrible.
