Tuesday in Lagos is definitely not a good day for those who work on the island. It had rained all through the night and the island was flooded. As day became clearer, the rained shifted to the mainland, hence it had everyone scampering for either cover or to jumping into buses.
First of all, in the midst of all the commotion, the Ticketer gave me more than my balance after I gave her a 500 naira note. She gave me 480 naira instead of 380naira. I did not notice until the bus was already moving. How will I give her back the 100naira or "na my luck", beside all those small 10 or 20 naira balance I don't get would have amounted to 100naira. Its raining cats and dogs as the bus made its way through the hold up. Sometimes I wonder why vehicle owner drive anyhow when its raining, like they driving to take cover or what.
Anyway as it was really a heavy downpour, those seating by the windows of the BRT had to close to windows to stop the rain from reaching them . it seemed okay at that time as inside the bus was cold and comfortable.
Several minutes later of slowly moving traffic, the rain had reduced and was drizzling. Most of the passengers were becoming hot and uncomfortable yet the windows where still closed. " excuse me! excuse me!! Madam please open the window, its really hot already".
A standing gentleman appealed to a lady by the window. By now some others had opened the other windows. She ignored the young man like no one said anything. "Madam please open the window, its hot here and its no longer raining" .
"Please, I can't open it, its still raining, I will be wet, sorry!! " she said. Aunty abeg open the window jare, rain don stop na. ' you don't want rain to touch you, are u salt? Nonsense! Another hot angry standing passenger shouted in Yoruba. She still ignored them. It was then the man went ahead to open the window himself. And a little struggle ensured.
"Abeg open this thing joor, rain dey fall small small" he open the window!! Respect yourself mr man. Don't let me insult u oo. Besides other windows are open!! And she shut the window again. And a whole lot of insult and name calling ensure. Seriously I don't know who to support here. Just another BRT wahala.
