So sad. A number of children were killed during a mass stabbing in Cairns, Australia, a new report claims. At this time, authorities are investigating the horrific scene.
Eight children, aged between 18 months and 15 years, were reportedly been found dead in a home, located in a suburb of Cairns, Australia, police said Dec. 19, according to CNN. Authorities were called to the scene of the crime on Friday morning (Australia time) after reports of a woman with serious injuries.
“During an examination of the residence, police located the bodies of the children, all aged between 18 months and 15 years,” the Queensland Police Service said in a statement, according to CNN.
The injured woman, who police believe is in her 30s, is currently being treated for her serious condition, but she’s helping police with their investigation, the site claims.
Currently, the road the house is located on in Queensland — a suburb in Cairns — is blocked, according to CNN, “with officers from criminal investigation, child protection and crime scene units at the scene,” police said.
Unfortunately, no other information is available at this time. The story is still developing.
Furthermore, police have not revealed the nature of the injuries suffered by the woman, according to The Guardian.
Our thoughts go out to those affected by this deadly attack. Our hearts break for the victims’ family and friends.
